Specialised in underwater photography, the artist Susanne Stemmer examines the changes that human beings experience after their immersion through the surface. The characters illustrated in her works are free and boundless as soon as they immerse. A physical freedom with the imaginary loss of gravity as well as mental freedom, abandoning their image having the feeling nobody is watching them - finally being able to release themselves from all conventions and drop the mask they are wearing in society.

An inner journey begins into a world we rediscover ourselves, a dream world, photographed and still resembling an imaginary painting.

Spécialiste de la photo sous-marine, l’artiste Susanne Stemmer s’intéresse aux comportements des êtres humains après qu’ils se soient immergés dans l’eau. Les personnages représentés dans ses œuvres deviennent libres dès qu’ils en traversent la surface. Ils acquièrent une liberté physique avec la perte de sensation de gravité et ils acquièrent aussi une liberté mentale, en abandonnant leur image, puisque ici ils ont le sentiment que personne ne les regarde. Cette image construite pour vivre en société se détache alors peu à peu de leurs visages.

Commence pour ces personnages un voyage intérieur dans un monde où l’on se redécouvre, un monde onirique photographié telle une peinture imaginaire.
